Ingredients
  • 2 russet potatoes (large)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup onions (diced)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp dill pickles (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
    Prepare the Fries
  1. 1. Wash and peel the russet potatoes.
  2. 2. Cut them into thin fries, about 1/4-inch thick.
  3. 3. Soak the fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  4. Make the Animal Style Sauce
  5. 1. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped dill pickles, sugar, and white vinegar.
  6. 2. Stir well until all ingredients are well-combined.
  7. Cook the Onions
  8. 1. Heat a pan over medium heat.
  9. 2. Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil and the diced onions.
  10. 3. Cook until the onions are caramelized, stirring occasionally.
  11. Fry the Potatoes
  12. 1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
  13. 2. Drain the fries and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  14. 3. Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  15. 4. Drain on paper towels and season with salt immediately.
